Week 8 - Ethics

Wednesday was the only day this week we sat together. We started off with a meeting with our tutor which ended up in a realisation we still needed to do some crucial research.

Our planning for today was to start with discussing the questions we had got from our class during the ethical lesson this Monday. So, after our meeting we started off with this. We had a lot of questions gathered which we all went through with the whole group. Each mind changing question that caught our attention made it to a list. These where the final questions:

Why is it a problem? (how did it started, why and when in the Netherlands)

Why did we choose urbanisation?

Why did we choose the Netherlands?

What is happening in the Netherlands that their biodiversity is so low?

Why did we choose the 8 biggest cities to target?

How does biodiversity influence daily lives of people in cities?

Does biodiversity improve the ecosystem?

Does biodiversity contribute to a healthy economy?

In which possible way can biodiversity contribute to the quality of life of our target group?

For who has the loss of biodiversity a negative effect?

For who has the loss of biodiversity a positive effect?

What happens if we do nothing?

With the whole team we started to answer the useful questions. The ones that could not be answered where divided over the team members to take with them in next week’s research.

To win back some lost time we had decided to each do a part of the research that needed to be done on Thursday, so we could start next week with a fresh perspective. Each of the team members received a question to research and two cities. During our meeting, we searched together for cities who are scoring high when it comes to biodiversity and green living. Those cities where divided up the team members to dive in to. So, for now a one last time dive in to some information.

Next week we are going to discuss the outcomes of our research. After that we can start the next phase; concept development.
