Week 11 - Designing and sketching

This week we started on Monday with choosing a final concept. Due to the minimal time we have left we decided to go with one concept which we are going to work out completely. The concept was chosen by discussing all visual concept we had made for today. With each concept, we took a critical look at the chance of succeeding and the possible hiccups.

The pavement solution was the first one to delete. It was a nice concept but to similar to another project of a company from the Netherland. Eventually more team members liked the biodiversity pillar over the cube shaped objects, so this was our final concept. The positive side of the cube shaped objects was the combination with objects for people at home. This aspect of the concept was taken with us in the next step to look if we could implement this with the biodiversity pillar concept.

On Thursday, we continued our process with brainstorming about our final concept. How are we going to make the object? What is its final design? And what are the technical aspects? To do this we all had collected images about joints (connecters), ways we could stack objects and designs of the product. These images where placed in moodboards to give an overall view of each subject. We started the brainstorm each subject at a time.

Each brainstorm was about 15 minutes. Within these 15 minutes we all had the time to explorer the moodboards of the other team members as inspiration for sketches. The remaining time was used to sketch ideas based on the moodboards. First sketches about possible connecters, second sketches about stacking options and last some sketches about the design of the product.

Next week we are going to develop our chosen concept further in design and functionality.
