Week 14 - Final efforts

One week to go till our final presentation. Finishing up the last details of our product and designing our final presentation were some things we did this week.

The week started with a presentation at Trudo. We’ve made contact to discuss the problem of biodiversity in the Netherlands and show them our product to get some feedback from a professional. Trudo is a housing association which develop living areas with as much green and biodiversity options as possible. The presentation and their feedback made us change our concept. At first, our concept was mainly based on targeting cities and placing our product around street lights in city centres. To target consumers in those cities we wanted to create a similar product that people could use at home. The feedback was to mainly focus on the consumer because you will create more spaces with biodiversity and the product will be taken good care of in people’s own garden or balcony. They said it was difficult to put our product in public spaces without the proper care and the risk that it is taken down by vandalism. Their thought was that it would definitely sell to the consumer because of the design look and the possibility to collect and build the product themselves.

After the meeting, we sat together and defined our concept in the way with the given feedback. We already had some trouble with implementing the concept in cities so the feedback was very useful. We decided to put one product around a street light in each of the eight cities to promote our cause. This will trigger people to look at our brand and product and hopefully back us up in our journey to preserve biodiversity.

Another thing that had to be done this week was to brainstorm about a name for our product. Together we came up with some ideas for our product. The name needed to be short and had some linking words towards the goal of our product. The brainstorm leaded us to the name Urbio. A combination of the words urban and biodiverse.
