Metal printing applications

On Monday the 3rd of April, we had a guest lecture from Martin Stroetinga. Martin is a former student at Fontys Eindhoven who found his subject of focus while doing his internship. In this internship, he discovered the metal 3D printing technique. Nowadays he works in this branch and is also a lecturer at Fontys / assisting in the Objexlab.

In his lecture, he explained 2 main subjects. The first one was the standard process that is coheres with almost every product that is being 3D printed. The process is as followed:

Concepting - 3D CAD modeling - Slicing - Printing - Post processing - Final product.

The second subject was about 3D metal printing in which he gave a very interesting explanation about the actual technique that is used by most metal printers. In conclusion, this was a great learning experience.
