Week 6 - Presentation time
We started the week with preparing for our Go/No Go presentation that was planned for Wednesday. We had to prepare all the information that needed to be said to convince the class and tutors we had chosen the right subject for this project.
On Monday, we sad together to combine all researches we could use to convince the audience. Out of all the research we did we still had to formulate our problem statement. What is it exactly that we want to tackle within the theme biodiversity? And how do we put this in a problem statement? We needed to narrow down the topic with our research.
The conclusion of our research was that the Netherlands was one of the countries with the worst biodiversity in the world. So, it was quick set that we needed to focus on our own country. Now, this was still a little too broad, so we decided that we wanted to focus on cities with over 200.000+ citizens. Those are the eight biggest cities in the Netherlands. With the trend Urbanisation in mind, we wanted to participate on cities with a growing number of citizens for future perspective. This narrowing down led to the following problem statement;
How might we increase the biodiversity of cities with 200.000+ citizens in the Netherlands?
This problem statement was eventually the centre of our presentation. Bart and Matijs presented this problem statement and how we got to this theme. We started with the fact that biodiversity is so drastically low in comparison to other countries in the world, to shock the audience and get their attention. Next we pointed out some projects that have already been done to help biodiversity, so the audience had a better understanding of the possibilities within this subject. In the conclusion, we summed up some opportunities we saw for this project with our own visions. The presentation was well received so we got a go! We have got some helpful tips to move forward in our research and process.

You can find our presentation here.
Next week we have a meeting with our tutor in which we get some feedback about our presentation. In this meeting, we are going to discuss our next steps.
